The Chicago Bulls announced Tuesday that guard Tobe Awaka and forward Jaylin Sellers have each signed two-way contracts. The moves add two young players to the organization’s roster pool for the upcoming season and give Chicago additional flexibility as it continues to shape its team composition.
Two-way contracts allow players to split their time between the NBA club and its G League affiliate, the Windy City Bulls. Under the terms of the deals, Awaka and Sellers will practice with the NBA squad, travel with the team as needed, and spend the bulk of their minutes developing in the G League, where they can be evaluated in a system that mirrors the parent club’s style.
Awaka, a guard, brings a quick first step and the ability to finish at the rim, attributes that complement the backcourt trio of Zach LaVine, DeMar DeRozan and Coby White. Sellers, a forward, adds size and defensive versatility in the frontcourt, giving the coaching staff a potential plug-in who can protect the paint and rebound alongside veteran center Nikola Vučević. Both players are expected to see significant minutes with the Windy City Bulls while remaining available for call-ups throughout the regular season.
The signings reflect General Manager Troy Weaver’s ongoing emphasis on high-upside, low-cost talent. After a series of roster adjustments, the front office has turned to the G League as a proving ground for players who can fill roster holes without committing long-term cap space. This approach mirrors a league-wide trend of leveraging two-way contracts to develop prospects while maintaining financial flexibility.
Looking ahead, Awaka and Sellers will have the opportunity to impress during preseason scrimmages and the early G League schedule. Strong performances could earn them standard NBA contracts, while continued development will keep them on the two-way roster as the Bulls seek depth and resilience over the grind of the NBA season.
